The Anner Award was established in March 2011 by the network surrounding Anner van der Mheen.
Anner van der Mheen was an exceptional entrepreneur/student at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, known for his unique approach characterized by openness, natural talent for networking, courage, a strong desire to connect, perseverance, and a thirst for knowledge. While Anner was doing an internship at Philips for his studies, he unexpectedly fell ill and passed away on March 8, 2011. To keep alive everything he stood for, including bridging the gap between education and business, this annual award was established in his honor.
